If someone is in danger
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number now (112 in Nigeria). Then report it to us too.
How to report
Reports are private. The person you report is not told who reported them.
- A post: tap the menu on the post and choose Report.
- A comment: press and hold the comment, or use its menu, and choose Report.
- A person: open their profile, or the chat with them, and choose Report from the menu.
- Someone in Meet: tap the report button during the chat. See How Meet is moderated.
- A status, a message or a room: there is no report button for these yet. Report the person who sent it from their profile or your chat with them, and add a note saying what happened.
Pick the reason that fits best (nudity, scam, harassment, hate, impersonation or something else) and add a short note if it helps. If something needs urgent attention or doesn't fit in the app, email support@salesive.com (subject: "Gyvio safety").
What happens after a report
Our safety team reviews reports against our Community Guidelines. We aim to look at every report quickly and prioritise the most serious ones. Depending on what we find, we may:
- take no action, if nothing breaks the rules,
- remove the post, comment or status, or remove the text and file of a message,
- give the account a strike, which can lower its trust level and its limits,
- suspend the account, so it can still look around but cannot post, pay or chat,
- ban the account, so it can no longer use Gyvio at all,
- ban the person from Meet (see below),
- refer the matter to the police or other authorities where the law requires it or someone is at risk.
When you report a person, any paid first message they sent you that you have not answered goes back to them, and any coins they sent you that you have not accepted go back too. Reporting someone does not block them; block them as well if you don't want to hear from them.
Blocking
Block someone from their profile or your chat with them. They are not told. When you block someone:
- you stop following each other, so if you were friends, you no longer are,
- they can't message you, call you or send you coins,
- you stop seeing each other's posts in feeds and search, and each other's statuses,
- their profile shows you no posts, and yours shows them none,
- they can't join a public room you own,
- you are never matched with each other in Meet,
- any unanswered paid first message or unaccepted coins between you go back to the sender.
Blocking does not yet cover everything. If you share a room, you will both still see each other's messages there, so leave the room if you need to. Someone you blocked may still be able to open a post of yours if they have a direct link to it. You can unblock someone at any time.
How Meet is moderated
Meet connects you by video with a random adult. Because you don't know the other person, it has extra protections.
Who can use it
You need to be 18 or older, have a profile photo, set your gender (kept private), and accept the Meet rules. New accounts may have to wait a few days before they can use Meet.
What strangers see
The first word of your display name and your country. Not your photo, username, age or city. Profiles are only revealed if you both tap Add friend.
Reporting in Meet
Anyone can report the person they are chatting with, at any moment, with the report button. If something isn't right, tap Next or report. When a report is made:
- The chat ends straight away.
- You are never matched with that person again: reporting in Meet also blocks them for you.
- One still picture of that moment goes to our safety team for review. It is stored privately and deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Nothing else is recorded. Meet video and sound go directly between the two phones (or through a relay that does not record) and are never stored.
Meet video is not scanned automatically today. We may use automated tools to help detect rule-breaking content in future, and will update this page and our Privacy Policy when we do.
Meet bans
If three different people report someone within 24 hours, that person is automatically banned from Meet. Bans get longer each time:
| Ban | Length |
|---|---|
| First | 24 hours |
| Second | 7 days |
| Third | 30 days |
| Fourth and after | Paused until our team reviews the reports |
Our team can also ban someone from Meet directly, lift a ban that was a mistake, and confirm reports. A confirmed report adds a strike to the account, and serious or repeated breaches can lead to a suspension or ban from all of Gyvio.
More ways to stay in control
- Disappearing messages are on by default in one-to-one chats: messages delete themselves 24 hours after they are sent. Either person can turn them off for that chat.
- A paid inbox. Set a price for a first message from someone you don't follow each other with. Friends message you for free.
- Friends only for calls. Only people who follow each other can call.
- Private rooms. Only the owner can add people.
- Hide your lists. Hide who follows you and who you follow, and choose who can see your statuses.
- A spending passcode. Protect tips and coin sends with a 4-digit passcode.
- Check before you share. Anyone with the direct link to a photo or video you upload can open it. Think before sending something you would not want passed on.
Money and scams
- Gyvio staff will never ask for your spending passcode or your Google password.
- Keep payments inside Gyvio. We can't help with money sent to someone outside the app.
- Be wary of anyone promising to multiply your coins, selling coins, or asking you to top up so they can "release" a prize.
- Coins sent in chat and paid first messages are only released when the other person accepts or replies, and go back to you if they don't within 3 days.
- Report scams with the Scam reason. See Dash Coins and payments for how money works.
If we took action on your account
If you think we removed your content, suspended or banned you, or banned you from Meet by mistake, email support@salesive.com (subject: "Gyvio support") from the email address on your account, with your username and what happened. A member of our team will look at it again.
Child safety
Gyvio is for adults only. You must be 18 or older, and we check your date of birth when you sign up. We have zero tolerance for any content that sexualises or exploits children. When we find it, we remove it, ban the accounts involved, preserve the evidence, and report it to the relevant authorities.
If you see anything that puts a child at risk, or believe someone under 18 is using Gyvio:
- report it in the app, and
- email support@salesive.com (subject: "Gyvio child safety"). We treat child-safety reports as urgent.
Please do not download, screenshot or share the content, even to report it. Describe where it is and we will find it.
Law enforcement requests
We respond to valid legal requests from police and other authorities. Send requests to support@salesive.com (subject: "Gyvio law enforcement") from an official address, with the legal basis for the request and the Gyvio username or profile link concerned. We review each request, may push back on requests that are too broad, and disclose only what the law requires. Where the law allows and it is safe to do so, we tell the person concerned first.
In an emergency involving a risk of death or serious harm, say so in the subject line and we will prioritise it.
What we hold is limited by how Gyvio works. We never record calls or Meet chats. Disappearing messages, statuses and Flicks are deleted after 24 hours. Meet report pictures are deleted after 30 days. Our Privacy Policy lists what we keep and for how long. We can preserve specific records while a formal request is prepared.
